Sorrento Linear Timber Pendant Light - Dimmable LED Dining Bar Light

The Sorrento Linear Timber Pendant Light is a single slim bar of solid timber with a continuous LED strip recessed into its underside, so the fitting itself stays quiet and only the light does the work. Seen from a chair it reads as a plain length of pine or black walnut floating above the table; switch it on and a soft even band of light falls straight down the length of the surface, with no glare in anyone's eyes and no bulb to see. It comes in four lengths from 80cm (31.5in) to 180cm (70.9in), so it can be matched to the table rather than left looking stranded - the usual rule is a fitting roughly two thirds the length of the table. The timber profile is slim at 3.5 x 5cm (1.4 x 2.0in), and the suspension drops up to 200cm (78.7in) for high ceilings. Each timber comes two ways: the A versions hang on two fine cables straight to the ceiling, while the B versions add a matching timber rail fixed flat to the ceiling that the cables drop from, which hides the wiring and suits an exposed or featureless ceiling. Warm, neutral and cool white are fixed; the dimmable version sets both the brightness and the colour temperature from a remote handset.

• Light from the underside only: The LED strip sits behind a diffuser recessed into the base of the bar, so the table is lit evenly and nobody looks into a bare globe across dinner.

• Four light options including remote dimming: Fixed warm, neutral or cool white, or the dimmable version, whose remote handset changes both brightness and colour temperature from the sofa.
• Slim 3.5 x 5cm profile: The bar is deliberately thin, so a 180cm fitting still feels light overhead rather than like a beam crossing the room.
• Adjustable drop to 200cm: The cables shorten on site to hang at the usual 75cm (29.5in) above a dining table, or stay long for a high ceiling or a stairwell.
