The Taya Alabaster Table Lamp is a functional sculpture, and it now comes in two versions so you can choose how far to take it. The Alabaster Glass Shade version pairs a dome of alabaster-effect glass with an electroplated iron column and disc base - it captures the soft, milky glow of stone at an accessible price and is lighter to move around. The Alabaster Stone Shade version is the heirloom piece: its dome is cut from solid natural alabaster, a translucent stone used for lighting since antiquity, set on a hand-forged bronze base. Lit from within, the stone's veining glows and every shade is unique. Both versions come in a gold or black finish and share the same generous 30cm across by 50cm tall (11.8 x 19.7in) silhouette, with real presence on a bedside table, console, sideboard or desk. Each takes a standard E26/E27 globe (not included), runs on 90-260V, and a dimmable globe takes it from a working light down to a low evening glow. Available with AU, USA, EU or UK plugs.

Care Instructions
Alabaster Glass Shade: dust the glass with a soft dry cloth and clean marks with a lightly damp microfibre cloth, then dry it. Wipe the electroplated iron base with a dry cloth only - avoid water pooling, abrasive pads and metal polish, which can wear through the plated finish.
Alabaster Stone Shade: alabaster is a soft, porous stone that scratches and etches easily, so dust the shade with a dry, soft cloth and clean marks with a barely damp cloth only, drying immediately. Never use vinegar, lemon juice, bleach, glass cleaner or any acidic or abrasive product on alabaster - it will dull and pit the surface permanently - and keep water off it as much as possible. Wipe the bronze base with a dry cloth; do not use metal polish, which cuts through the hand-forged finish. Variation in veining, translucency and colour is natural to the stone.
For both versions, use an LED globe rather than a hot incandescent one, keep the lamp indoors and out of humid rooms, and lift it by the base, never the shade.
