Hand wash the Piston decanter only, using lukewarm water and a drop of mild dishwashing liquid; it is not dishwasher safe, as the heat and harsh detergent can cloud the glass and dull the gold-tone crown. Rinse the inside by swirling warm water through the neck, and for stubborn residue add a spoonful of uncooked rice with a little white vinegar and swirl gently before rinsing well. Use a soft bottle brush around the narrow wheel arches and body creases rather than anything abrasive. Wipe the crown stopper with a damp soft cloth and never soak it, so the gold-tone finish and jewelled details stay bright. Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as pouring hot water into a cold decanter, which can crack the glass.
