The Orby Natural Alabaster Wall Lamp is a small sphere of real stone that glows from the inside. Because each globe is carved from solid alabaster rather than moulded from glass or resin, the light does not simply pass through it — it travels into the stone and lights up the mineral veining from within, so the fitting reads as a warm, softly clouded object rather than a bright bulb behind a shade. No two are identical: alabaster forms in irregular layers, so the pale snowflake-like markings run differently through every globe, and yours will not match the photograph exactly. That is the point of the material. The hardware is deliberately reduced to almost nothing — a slim gold-finished metal mount that holds the sphere just clear of the wall, so the Orby appears to float rather than sit in a bracket. It puts out a genuinely soft, low-level warm light, which makes it a better bedside lamp than most: bright enough to find your book, gentle enough that it will not wake the person beside you. Mounted as a symmetrical pair either side of a bedhead it frees up the entire bedside table; run in a row down a hallway or stacked vertically on a dark timber wall, it becomes a quiet architectural detail. Choose 12cm (4.7in) for bedsides and tighter spaces, or 15cm (5.9in) where you want more presence. Hardwired and indoor rated, it takes a standard G9 bulb so you can set the brightness and warmth to suit the room.
Key Features
- Solid Carved Alabaster: Real stone with natural veining — every globe is genuinely one of a kind.
- Glows From Within: Light travels into the stone and lifts the veining, rather than shining through a shade.
- Floating Gold Mount: A slim metal bracket holds the sphere clear of the wall for a near-invisible fixing.
- Two Sizes: 12cm (4.7in) and 15cm (5.9in) to suit bedsides, hallways or a feature wall.
- Frees Up the Bedside Table: Wall mounted reading light that leaves the surface clear.
- Standard G9 Bulb: Choose your own brightness and colour temperature; 3000K warm white recommended.
- Groups Beautifully: Works as a single accent, a symmetrical pair, or a stacked cluster.

Care Instructions
Alabaster is a soft, porous natural stone and needs gentler handling than glass. Switch the lamp off and let the bulb cool, then dust the globe with a dry, soft cloth or a clean makeup brush for the areas around the mount. If a mark needs lifting, use a barely damp cloth and dry the stone immediately — never soak it, never hold it under running water, and never use vinegar, lemon, bleach, methylated spirits or any acidic or abrasive cleaner, as acid etches alabaster permanently and leaves a dull patch that cannot be polished out. Keep the lamp indoors and away from bathrooms, steam and damp rooms; moisture is absorbed into the stone and causes clouding over time. Do not exceed the wattage marked on the fitting, as excess heat inside a stone shade can cause hairline cracking, and use an LED G9 rather than a halogen for that reason. Wipe the gold mount with a dry cloth only. Because the globe is solid stone it is heavy for its size — support it with one hand when changing a bulb, and check the wall fixings are still firm once a year.
