Hand wash the Mustang decanter only, using lukewarm water and a little mild dishwashing liquid; the dishwasher will fade the printed door labels and can strip the chrome-look grille, badge and bumpers. Clean around the labels with a soft cloth and light pressure rather than scrubbing, and keep the decorative stopper or cap out of the water, wiping it with a damp cloth instead; this matters most for the bronze horse-and-jockey and gold crown stoppers. To clean the inside, swirl warm water through the neck, or use a spoonful of uncooked rice with a dash of white vinegar for residue, then rinse well. Use a soft bottle brush in the wheel arches and grille. Avoid sudden temperature changes, as pouring hot water into cold glass can crack it. Dry the inside upside down and polish the outside with a lint-free cloth. Lift the decanter by the body, never by the stopper, and keep it out of direct sunlight.
