Hand wash the Harley decanter only, in lukewarm water with a little mild dishwashing liquid; the dishwasher can wear away the chrome-look finish on the handlebars, mirrors and headlight. Hold it by the fuel tank and body when washing, never by the handlebars or mirrors, which are the thinnest parts of the glass. Borosilicate glass copes with temperature change better than standard glass, but still avoid pouring boiling water into a cold decanter. Swirl warm water through the neck to clean inside, or add a spoonful of uncooked rice with a dash of white vinegar for residue, then rinse well. A soft bottle brush reaches around the wheels, engine and fenders; skip scourers and abrasive cleaners that scratch the glass. Wipe the black cap with a damp cloth rather than soaking it. Dry upside down on a rack, polish with a lint-free cloth, and display it away from direct sun and the edge of benches.
