The Shroud Ghost Pumpkin Yard Lamp stands 1.3 m (4.3 ft) tall, which puts the lit pumpkin head at roughly waist-to-chest height - high enough to catch the eye from the footpath, low enough to line a path with two or three without the display looking like a fairground. An 18 cm (7 in) pumpkin head glows above a body of soft gauze cloth, and an LED light string inside creates a slow swirling effect through the fabric so the ghost appears to move even on a still night. The frame is a durable plastic that handles dew and a passing shower, and because it runs on three AA batteries there is no lead running back across the lawn and no outdoor socket to find. Stake one beside the front path, put a pair either side of a driveway like sentries, or set one on a verandah beside the door where the light spills across the boards.

Care Instructions
Remove the batteries before cleaning or storing. Wipe the plastic pumpkin head and frame with a soft, barely damp cloth and dry it straight away; keep solvents, methylated spirits and abrasive pads away from the painted face, which will scratch and dull. The gauze body should only be shaken out or lightly brushed - do not machine wash it, wring it or soak it, as the open weave will pull out of shape and will not hang the same way again. Bring the lamp under cover in heavy rain or strong wind: wet gauze holds water, becomes heavy on the frame, and can tear where it is attached. Keep the battery compartment dry at all times and let it air if it has been out in damp weather. To store, lift the gauze clear of the frame rather than crushing it, keep the pumpkin head upright so it cannot deform, and pack the lamp in a dry box away from heat and direct sunlight.
