The Pica Retro Outdoor Wall Lantern is a classic coach-style lantern with a little more character than most: a stepped, pagoda-like roof with a finial, a square cage of clear glass panels and a sturdy wall bracket that holds the lantern slightly off the surface. The frame is aluminium and the panels are clear glass, so a warm filament globe inside becomes the centrepiece, glowing through the glass like an old gas lamp on a verandah. It takes a standard E26/E27 screw globe, which means you can choose the brightness and warmth yourself, and it carries an IP65 rating, so it is sealed against dust and water jets and ready for Australian downpours, coastal air and hot summers. There are two sizes: 22 x 29cm (8.7 x 11.4in) for a single front door or side gate, and 28.5 x 38cm (11.2 x 15.0in) for a wide entry, garage or double doors. Both come in black, which looks sharp on white weatherboards and painted brick, or a bronze finish with a warm, aged tone that suits farmhouse, Federation and cabin-style homes. Use one beside the door or mount a pair either side of an entry or breezeway. It is hardwired and runs on AC 85-265V.

Care Instructions
Switch the light off at the wall and let the globe cool completely before cleaning or changing it. Wipe the aluminium frame and roof with a soft cloth dampened with water and mild detergent, then dry it; avoid solvents, bleach and abrasive pads, which strip the black or bronze finish and leave the metal open to corrosion, and never try to polish the bronze tone, as it is a surface finish rather than solid bronze. Clean the clear glass panels inside and out with a microfibre cloth and a mild glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth, not into the frame, and handle them carefully, as glass can crack if knocked or if cold water hits a hot panel. Clear insects, cobwebs and leaf litter from the base of the lantern regularly so water can drain away. In coastal areas, rinse the frame with fresh water every few months to remove salt. Do not pressure-wash the lantern. When changing the E27 globe, support the lantern body and do not overtighten the globe, and use a globe rated for enclosed outdoor fittings. Any rewiring should be done by a licensed electrician.
