Marrick Vintage Outdoor Wall Lantern is a proper coach light in the old tradition: a faceted clear glass lantern hung from a scrolled swan-neck arm, finished in gloss black with polished brass rings and finial. It is made from brass and glass, so the bulb sits on show behind the panes and throws a warm, sparkling light across a front door, verandah or garage. This is a substantial piece at 63cm high, 21cm wide and 20cm out from the wall (24.8 x 8.3 x 7.9in), about the height of a large suitcase standing upright, so it holds its own on a tall Federation or Queenslander frontage and looks right in pairs either side of a garage or entry. It takes a single E14 bulb (E12 compatible) up to 15W, and a warm filament or LED globe suits the heritage look best. It runs on 110-240V mains and is hardwired, so installation by a licensed electrician is required. Mount it under a verandah, porch roof or eave where the glass is sheltered from driving rain. It suits heritage homes, farmhouse and Hamptons styling, and period restorations where a modern fitting would look out of place.

Care Instructions
Switch the light off at the wall and let the bulb and glass cool completely before cleaning. Wipe the black and brass frame with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth; avoid brass polish, ammonia, vinegar and abrasive creams on the lacquered finish, as they strip the coating and leave the brass to tarnish and spot. Clean the clear glass panels with warm water and a drop of mild detergent, then dry them with a lint-free cloth to prevent water marks, and support the lantern body with one hand while you work so you do not strain the swan-neck arm. Near the coast, wipe the fitting down with fresh water every few months to clear salt, which pits brass and dulls the black finish. Keep the lantern sheltered under a verandah or eave rather than exposed to driving rain, never hose or pressure-wash it, and use a bulb no higher than 15W. Leave any rewiring to a licensed electrician.
