The Jack Vintage Pumpkin Lantern does the job a real carved pumpkin does, without the mess, the fruit flies or the four days before it collapses. A moulded body carries the carved face and the deep vertical ribbing of a proper jack-o-lantern, finished in a weathered vintage orange rather than a bright plastic gloss, and an LED inside throws a warm glow out through the cut-outs. Because it runs on batteries and there is no flame, it can sit where a candle never could - directly on a timber verandah step, on an outdoor table between the plates, on a letterbox pillar to greet trick-or-treaters, or on a window ledge with the curtains pulled back. A metal carry handle across the top means it can also hang from a verandah hook or a branch. At tabletop scale it works in groups of two or three down a set of steps, and it packs away into a box to come back next October.

Care Instructions
Dust the moulded body with a soft dry cloth, working into the ribbing and around the carved cut-outs with a soft brush where dust collects. For marks, use a barely damp cloth with a little mild soap and dry the lantern immediately - do not soak it, put it through a dishwasher, or use solvents, methylated spirits or abrasive cleaners, all of which will strip the weathered vintage finish and leave the plastic shiny and patchy. Keep the battery compartment completely dry; if the lantern has been out on a verandah in damp weather, open the compartment and let it air before closing it up. Remove the batteries whenever the lantern is packed away for more than a few weeks, as a leaking cell will corrode the contacts and ruin the light. Store it upright in a box with the handle folded down, out of direct sunlight and away from heat, since prolonged sun will fade the orange finish and can warp the moulded shell.
