The Freya Solar String Lights swap the usual bare festoon globe for a small art deco shade, so the strand reads as a considered decorative feature rather than generic party lighting. Each 6.5 cm shade sits on a preassembled solar string that you simply unroll and hang - across a pergola, along a fence or balustrade, between two gum trees, around a deck or over an alfresco table - with no wiring, no extension leads and no power point required. The panel charges through the day and the strand lights itself at dusk, running through the evening on free energy. Choose warm white 3000K for a soft, restrained glow, or the colourful strand when you want a bit more life over a barbecue or a party. Four lengths are available, from a compact 10-light 3.5 m run up to a 50-light 7 m strand, giving 50 to 250 lumens depending on configuration. Rated IP44 for wet locations, the Freya is made to stay up all summer.

Care Instructions
Wipe the fabric shades gently with a dry or barely damp cloth and let them air dry fully before the strand is switched on again; do not soak, machine wash or scrub the shades, as the fabric will lose its shape and colour. Clean the solar panel separately with a damp cloth and keep it clear of leaves so the strand charges to full capacity. Support the cable at intervals with hooks or cable ties rather than pulling it taut between two fixed points, as tension on the lead is the usual cause of failure. Although rated IP44 for wet locations, the lights are not made for submersion or pooling water - take the strand down and store it dry and loosely coiled over winter or before a severe storm.
