Docking Vintage Outdoor Wall Light borrows its look from the lamps on old wharf sheds and barns: a wide black metal shade on a curved gooseneck arm, a frosted glass globe protected by a wire cage, and a vented mesh gallery above. The shade throws light down onto the doorstep or path, while the frosted glass softens the bulb so there is no glare in your eyes as you walk up. It is made from metal and glass in a matte black finish, and measures 29cm out from the wall, 25cm across the shade and 32cm high (11.4 x 9.8 x 12.6in) on a 12cm (4.7in) round backplate, roughly the size of a basketball, which suits a back door, garage, shed or carport without crowding it. It takes a standard LED or Edison-style bulb (not included), so you can choose a warm filament globe for a rustic glow or a low-energy LED for everyday use. It is wall mounted with a hardwired installation, so a licensed electrician is required. Picture it on a corrugated iron shed, a coastal deck, a farmhouse back porch or a red brick alfresco wall, and it looks like it has always been there.

Care Instructions
Switch the light off at the wall and let the bulb and glass cool before cleaning. Dust the black metal shade, arm and mesh gallery with a soft brush, then wipe with a damp cloth and a little mild detergent and dry it off; avoid abrasive pads, wire brushes and harsh solvents, which scratch the matte coating and expose the metal to rust. Pay attention to the mesh gallery and the wire cage, where dust, cobwebs and leaf litter collect and hold moisture. To clean the frosted glass globe, support it with one hand as you unscrew the cage, wash it in warm soapy water and dry it fully before refitting, as hard water left on frosted glass leaves white marks. On coastal and rural properties, wipe the fitting down with fresh water every few months to clear salt and dust. Touch up any chips in the black finish promptly so rust cannot creep under the coating, never pressure-wash the light, and leave any rewiring to a licensed electrician.
