The Maui Tiered Shell Chandelier is built from hundreds of small capiz shell tiles, hung in overlapping rows on a chrome frame so the whole fitting steps outward and downward like a waterfall. Capiz is a naturally translucent shell, and no two tiles are the same - each one carries its own faint mottling and pearl sheen, which is why the surface shifts as you walk around it rather than sitting flat. Lit, the shells glow from the inside and throw soft dappled shell-shaped shadows across the ceiling; unlit in daylight it reads as a pale sculptural shape, closer to a piece of coral than a light fitting. It measures 65cm across and 95cm tall (25.6 x 37.4in), which is a genuine statement scale - enough to anchor a round dining table, fill an entry void or hold the centre of a living room, and suited to a room of roughly 15 to 30 square metres. Eight E14 globes sit inside the frame behind the shells, and the chain adjusts so it can drop into a stairwell or sit close under a standard ceiling.
