The Hartog Linear Vanity Light Bar is a slim, architectural way to light a mirror properly. A fine rod with a continuous LED strip along its underside washes even light down over your face and the vanity, without the dark spots and harsh shadows of a single downlight, while a short cylindrical mount holds it neatly off the wall at the centre. The two-tone design comes in two combinations - a gold bar on a black mount, or a black bar on a gold mount - so it can pick up brushed brass tapware or matte black fittings already in the room. Four lengths suit everything from a powder-room mirror to a long double vanity: 39.9cm (15.7in), 59.9cm (23.6in), 80cm (31.5in) and 100.1cm (39.4in). Choose a bar roughly as wide as your mirror for the most balanced look. A three-step switch moves between warm, neutral and cool white, so you can do makeup in daylight-style light and wind down with a softer glow at night. The copper frame resists moisture and oxidation, and the acrylic diffuser spreads light evenly. It is hardwired to a wall switch and should be installed by a licensed electrician. It also works beautifully over a dressing table or a hallway mirror.

Care Instructions
Turn the Hartog off at the wall switch and let it cool before cleaning. Wipe the bar and mount with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; in a bathroom, a light weekly wipe stops steam, hairspray and toothpaste spatter from building up on the finish. For marks, use a cloth barely dampened with plain water and dry it straight away - avoid bleach, chlorine-based bathroom sprays and abrasive creams, which can tarnish the gold plating and dull the black coating on the copper frame. Clean the acrylic diffuser along the underside with a damp cloth only, never alcohol or glass cleaner, which can cloud or craze acrylic. Never spray cleaner directly at the light, and keep it out of direct shower spray.
