Hand wash the Hamilton decanter only, in lukewarm water with a little mild dishwashing liquid; the dishwasher can cloud the crystal cut facets and stress the thin boom arm. Always lift and wash it by the cab body, never by the boom arm or bucket, which are the most delicate parts of the glass. Use a soft bottle brush to clean between the cut facets and along the crawler tracks, and avoid scourers or abrasive powders that scratch the cut surfaces. To clean the inside, swirl warm water through the neck, or add a spoonful of uncooked rice with a dash of white vinegar for residue, then rinse thoroughly. Avoid sudden temperature changes and never pour boiling water into the glass. Dry it upside down on a padded rack and buff the facets with a lint-free cloth to bring back the sparkle. Display it away from direct sun and the edge of shelves, where the projecting bucket could be knocked.
